Evolution

Home/Evolution

Evolution is the process through wich a population of agents adapts to its environment over the course of serval life cycles. Evolution is the same process as adaptation except that it operates on the macro-level of a whole population over a longer period of time through feedback between the system and its environment. Evolution is the adaptive response of a group of entities that occurs over a period of many life cycles. Evolutionary changes reflect the response of the collection of agents to their environment. The process of evolution involve a number of elements including the production of variety within the population, the exposure of those variants to their operating environment to see how well they perform within that context and finally the selection and duplication of those variants that have proven most successful to ensure their great prevalence within the future life cycle of the system. In such a way the whole system comes to exhibit more of the characteristics required for sucess within the given environment, thus the whole macro system manages to adapt with0ut centralized regulation.
