Fallacy of division is a logical error whereby properties and functionality of the parts to an organisation are assumed to be tantamount to those of the whole system e.g. we might say the Swiss people are rich and then erroneously assume that any swiss person that one meets is wealthy. The inverse of this is called fallacy of composition, that is present when one erroneously ascribes a property of some element to that of the whole.
