Home/Fallacy of Composition

The fallacy of composition is a logical error made when one ascribes a property of some element to that of the whole system e.g. all the countries in the world have a flag, therefore the world must have a flag. The inverse of this is the fallacy of division, a logical error whereby properties and functionality of the parts to an organisation are assumed to be tantamount to those of the whole system.
