Home/Catastrophe Theory

Catastrophe theory is a recent domain of mathematics that studies systems displaying abrupt discontinuous change. Catastrophe theory is an area of nonlinear systems dynamics that looks at dramatic changes within the topology of a system’s state space, the most famous of which being what is called the cusp curve where the topology dramatically folds back on itself, creating a cliff-like structure, that represents a critical point of rapid change.
