A negative synergy is a destructive interaction between two or more elements where the parts work in a counteractive fashion to dampen down or destroy the effects of each other. Negative synergies are typically a product of components failing to coordinate or differentiate effectively. The net result of a negative synergy is a combined organization that is less than the sum of its parts.
