Home/Technology Convergence

Technological convergence is the convergence of a number of disparate technologies or functions into a single integrated system. The Internet and digital convergence are classical examples of this as virtually all modes of telecommunication are rapidly converging upon the Internet protocol as a single standard for telecommunications. Information technology is the primary driver of convergence in its capacity to interconnect different technology systems and in enabling many different technologies to be accessed through a single interface.
