Topology is a branch of mathematics that can be used to abstract the inherent connectivity of objects while ignoring their detailed form. In its most general definition topology means the way in which constituent parts are interrelated or arranged. Topology developed as a field of study during the 20th century out of geometry and set theory, through the analysis of concepts such as space, connectivity, dimension, and transformation.
